Worlds Fair Collectibles
70Worlds Fair Collage
There are millions of Worlds Fair items that are collectible today. Especially the 1893 Columbian Exposition and the 1938-39 World's Fair. Some collectors specialize in one area of items , for example all paper items, while the next collector may want only glassware pieces.
The collage photo with this article show a small collection of items from the 1964-65 Worlds Fair held in New York.
It contains the official flash card set, which shows some of the pavilions. The set consists of 24- 2 1/2 by 3 1/2 " cards. It was published by Ed-U cards, copyrighted in 1963.
You can also see an unused postcard from the Simmons Beauty Rest Pavilion, entitled "Land of Enchantment".
There are two Ford Times booklets in this collection. One is for 1964, the 57th year, and the other is a 1965 booklet, the 58th year. These booklets were distributed by Ford dealers to their customers as an invitation to visit the Ford Pavilion at the fair.
"The Exciting World of Dinosaurs", is a booklet provided by Sinclair, for their pavilion Dinoland. It has six full color pages of dinosaur pictures.
The "Official Souvenir Map", is a folded map in a card stock cover by Time Life books. It covers the entire area of the fair.
The Florida Citrus Express, Hawaii Express, 25 cents Gray Route, Glide-a-Ride leaflet is a simple approximately six by seven inch folded paper nshowing the routes of the Glide-a- Ride.
There is also a fold out map entitled "How To See New York World's Fair", is the title of a train route leaflet from the Long Island Railroad to the fair.
The Bell System leaflet is entitled, "Fun at the Fair, New York 1965 Edition, Where and How to Find It".
The "Official Souvenir Book of the New York Worlds Fair, 1965", is a profusely illustrated larger size booklet showing many areas of the fair.
There is also a leaflet from the "Rockville Centre Train Depot" showing the official time table for the Long Island line.
This collection also includes a Womans Day magazine article from the July 1964 issue. There are eight illustrated pages. The title is "Guide to the New York Worlds Fair" written by Hollis Alpert.
These items are only a sampling of the paper memorabilia that is being collected today. The prices range from a few dollars to much higher amounts, especialy for the older items. Many pieces can still be found , but they are much more rare than they used to be .
Any piece you can find will add value to your collection.

I have a collectable Century 21 Expostion. This is from 1962. It is One dollar. It is a coin. Almost the size of a $1.00 coin or a 50 cent piece. I wanted to see if someone could tell me the value. I would sell it for at least $500 to $1,000 dollars. No less. I feel it is really a collectable item.
